Company profile

Based in Massa, in the heart of the Carrara marble district, A. Bernacca (B.Blocks Natural Stones) supplies the finest Italian natural marble and stone for luxury projects worldwide. The company selects its raw material directly at source — from quarry blocks through to slabs and bespoke finishes — ensuring control, colour continuity and quality across every supply. When a project calls for it, this includes dry-laying the material in Carrara so that architects and clients can inspect and approve it before shipping. Bernacca's portfolio speaks to its standing more clearly than any introduction: Harrods, Selfridges, The Dorchester, Claridge's, Corinthia and 1 Hotel Mayfair in London, Palazzo Versace in Australia, private residences across New York, Hong Kong and Florida, and St Patrick's Cathedral — working alongside practices such as MAKE, Jamie Fobert and Eric Parry. For REE Club members, Bernacca is a strategic partner for developers, designers and luxury operators seeking marble and stone of true excellence — with the reliability of a supply chain controlled from quarry to site.

Marble Floor, Selfridges

Portfolio

Marble Floor, Selfridges

At the Selfridges flagship on Oxford Street, Jamie Fobert Architects redesigned the Galleries as one large, open, naturally lit space, where the boundaries between brand boutiques almost dissolve. The floor defines the character of the place: a marble designed to merge effortlessly from one area to the next, guiding the visitor's journey through the space. For this project, a rich palette of marbles was supplied: Calacatta Oro in five tonalities, together with Grigio Carnico, Fior di Bosco, Nero Marquina, Bianco Carrara and Arabescato. Different tones, layered and blended across the entire surface, to heighten the sense of movement and journey through the space. A project where stone is not merely cladding but the material that shapes the experience: at one point, the floor lifts and curves to form a screen two metres high and just five millimetres thick, translucent against the light from the windows. Selecting and matching such varied marbles into a single composition begins with the raw material at the quarry — where every block is assessed for tone and veining before cutting.

Harrods Grand Entrance Hall

Harrods Grand Entrance Hall

In the heart of Knightsbridge, Harrods' Grand Entrance Hall is one of the most complex refurbishments ever undertaken at the historic store, designed by MAKE Architects: a £20 million project that reimagined the entrance and escalator hall, drawing on the brand's Art Deco heritage around themes of permanence, longevity and elegance. For this project, White Grigio Ginevra marble was supplied to clad the walls and floors of the hall — the first, prestigious impression for millions of visitors. A material that pairs the restraint of grey with the luminosity of natural stone, working in dialogue with the bronze detailing and the new glass dome that floods the space with daylight. A project of this calibre begins with the raw material: blocks were selected and approved directly at the quarry, with architects and client on site to mark and validate each individual block before cutting. It's this control at source that guarantees colour continuity and quality across a surface built to last, at one of the most iconic addresses in global luxury.

111 Buckingham Palace Road

111 Buckingham Palace Road

In the heart of Victoria, 111 Buckingham Palace Road is Eric Parry Architects' reworking of a major London office building: a new double-height reception and a reimagined arrival experience, designed to elevate the quality and presence of the property. For this project, White Wenge marble was supplied, worked in both vein cut and cross cut to bring out the stone's texture and natural veining across different applications. The material clad the reception and communal spaces, lending elegance and material continuity to the building's calling card. One detail speaks to the standard of the work: the entire supply was dry-laid in Carrara before shipping, allowing architects and client to inspect and approve every slab in advance. A quality-control step that removes uncertainty and ensures the on-site result matches the design vision exactly.

1 Hotel Mayfair

Portfolio

1 Hotel Mayfair

In the heart of Mayfair, overlooking Green Park, 1 Hotel Mayfair is London's first sustainability-led luxury hotel: the regeneration of two existing buildings, reimagined as an urban sanctuary where natural stone, reclaimed wood and living greenery come together across every space. In this project, travertine is central to the hotel's material language. Bespoke slabs and finishes — from cladding to hand-worked surfaces — run through the communal areas, the Bamford spa and the guest rooms, bringing the warmth, texture and natural light of this stone into the interiors. A material that pairs timeless elegance with the project's sustainable soul. A realisation that shows how the right stone, expertly worked, becomes an integral part of the identity of a premium space.
