Harrods Grand Entrance Hall

About this project

In the heart of Knightsbridge, Harrods' Grand Entrance Hall is one of the most complex refurbishments ever undertaken at the historic store, designed by MAKE Architects: a £20 million project that reimagined the entrance and escalator hall, drawing on the brand's Art Deco heritage around themes of permanence, longevity and elegance. For this project, White Grigio Ginevra marble was supplied to clad the walls and floors of the hall — the first, prestigious impression for millions of visitors. A material that pairs the restraint of grey with the luminosity of natural stone, working in dialogue with the bronze detailing and the new glass dome that floods the space with daylight. A project of this calibre begins with the raw material: blocks were selected and approved directly at the quarry, with architects and client on site to mark and validate each individual block before cutting. It's this control at source that guarantees colour continuity and quality across a surface built to last, at one of the most iconic addresses in global luxury.
